We have been very busy establishing the projects in the latest months and participating in several interesting and exciting events. This is an update from the latest few months with highlights on the different projects.
Bita has made major progress in the tonsil organoid project and we have now been able to readily detect IgE switching after 8 days in culture (here insert photo of Bita in FACS room).
The lab participated successfully with a strong team engaging with the general public at The Long Night of Researcher on the 24 th of April. Rongqin had prepared a very nice movie on the 3D structure of antibody-allergen interaction that fascinated many of the visitors. Seva prepared games for the kids to play and learn about the antibodies in a fun way. Lovro had prepared the structures of antibodies and antigens in cardboard to nicely show how they look like in a simplistic way. Bita (absent on the photo) had prepared a nice power point presentation that showcased our tonsil organoid cultures and what they can be used for. (here insert photo from Long Night of Researcher)
Ola and Rongqin participated in the B-cell working group of the ÖGAI´s symposium in Graz where Ola presented the data on modelling that Rongqin has been working on intensely in the latest months.
Rongqin participated in the YSA symposium at Medical University of Vienna and presented her poster about her modelling studies with an enthusiastic crowd that asked several questions on how it works. (photo of Rongqin presenting poster).
Dr. Ganesh Phad visited our lab on the 29 th of May and gave a talk on his exciting data on atopic dermatitis and in the afternoon Rongqin had her second yearly report on her PhD Thesis progress. (photo of Rongqin and 2 nd photo of Ola and Ganesh).
On the 8 th of June Animisha defended her Master Thesis in Skövde with the title: CD23+IgG1+ Memory B cells in Food Allergy as Precursors of Pathogenic IgE Responses! Big congrats to Animisha!
Ola and Rongqin is participated in the Adaptive Immune Receptor Repertoire Community (AIRR-C) Meeting at Yale University, New Haven from 8-11 th of June. Very exciting meeting with many relevant talks for our BCR sequencing and modelling studies. Both are very happy with the participation and especially networking with fellow scientists in the field. Next week, we will have our yearly lab retreat in Ola´s home where we discuss science in more detail and do team building activities.
